This is the fourth time in a few days. The Palace of Versailles was evacuated again, Thursday October 19, after a bomb threat, the police headquarters announced to franceinfo. This follows a call to the emergency calls platform, adds a union source to France Télévisions. “Thought for these thousands of tourists coming from far away”commented the mayor of Versailles, François de Mazières, on the social network X. In the middle of the afternoon, the castle was finally reopened to the public.

The castle had already been evacuated on Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday. France is placed in a situation of “emergency attack”, the highest level of the Vigipirate vigilance and protection system, following the assassination on Friday October 13 of Dominique Bernard, French teacher in a high school in Arras (Pas-de-Calais).

The perpetrators of the false bomb threats “will be found” And “punished”, promised the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti. In accordance with article 322-13 of the Penal Code, the maximum penalty for a false bomb threat is three years’ imprisonment and a fine of 45,000 euros.
