Claude Monet’s painting “Spring” was doused with soup on Saturday February 10 afternoon at the Museum of Fine Arts in Lyon. The action was claimed by the Riposte Alimentaire collective on its X account.

“This spring will be the only one left if we don’t react. What will our future artists paint? ? What will we dream of if there is no more spring ?” chanted the two activists of the collective in front of the board.

Through this action, Riposte Alimentaire wishes to warn of the coming climate and social crisis. The collective asks “the integration of food into the general social security system”.

Sunday January 28, the collective carried out a similar action at the Louvre by throwing soup on the armored glass protecting “The Mona Lisa”. Two activists were taken into custody. A magistrate suggested they pay a citizen contribution to an association of victims’ families, according to the Paris prosecutor’s office.
