Sunday evening, at Citi Field, the Californian team won 6-0 in the third and final game of the series opposing it to the formation of the Big Apple.
The Padres starter for this duel, Joe Musgrove, was brilliant. The 29-year-old right-hander gave his rivals no runs, one hit and one free pass in seven innings. He also passed five opponents in the mitt.
In relief thereafter, Robert Suarez and Josh Hader were perfect.
Offensively, the winners took a two-run lead on their second turn at bat. With a single, Austin Nola pushed Josh Bell and Ha-Seong Kim to the plate.
Trent Grisham and Manny Machado each drove in two runs afterward, respectively in the fourth and fifth innings. Juan Soto finished the job offensively by allowing Mark Canha and Kim to go around the trails.
The loss was taken by starter Chris Bassit, who allowed three runs on as many strikes from the safe.
The first meeting between the Padres and the Dodgers will take place Tuesday night at the latter’s home.
