Mélanie Levesque and her partner were looking for a place surrounded by nature while being close to services when they discovered this wonderful place to start a family 13 years ago.
Previously owners of a house located east of Ottawa, Mélanie Levesque and her partner decided to leave their residential area in favor of a huge wooded plot of land inhabited by a house built piece by piece with a unique character. “As soon as we entered the house, we loved its brightness, its high cathedral ceilings which give it a grandiose and warm effect thanks to the presence of wood,” says Mme Levesque. The very comfortable chic chalet feel and the idyllic environment surrounded by nature, while being 15 minutes from the Canadian capital, quickly convinced the couple to buy it.
The residence was in perfect condition, but the new owners made several changes to update it and meet their needs over the years, since their two children were born there. “We notably added a full bathroom upstairs in the master bedroom, redid floors, then created two bedrooms and a large family room in the basement to maximize space,” she continues. The property now includes four bedrooms, including the parents’ bedroom on the mezzanine, three bathrooms and an office.
As soon as you enter, you fall under the spell of this interior, the majority of the rooms of which have ceilings or walls covered in wood, providing a feeling of well-being and a total change of scenery.
A playground all year round
The owners also improved the outdoor space, by creating a terrace to relax while admiring the deer, usual guests of the estate, by adding a spa and a swimming pool and by building a large 2000 sq. ft. garage.2 surmounted by a loft which can serve as an office or workshop.
“In winter and during the pandemic, the children even rode bicycles with friends in the garage! », says Mélanie Levesque. The family also enjoyed the forest immensely during all seasons, hiking or snowshoeing among the trees.
It’s great because there are no neighbors at the back or to the right of the house and there never will be, since it is a protected area.

Another attraction: the family designed a vegetable garden and a well-designed greenhouse which prevents small wild animals from infiltrating there to eat the vegetables.
Waterfront in sight
Mélanie Levesque and her family experienced great moments of happiness in this property. “There are a lot of advantages to living here, because the house is very pleasant to live in, it’s peaceful, you can enjoy nature as if you were staying in a prestigious chalet while being a short distance from the city and therefore schools, children’s activities, grocery stores and other services. It’s really ideal for a family and for entertaining a lot of people,” she says.
It was with a heavy heart that they decided to sell, but they were won over by land at the water’s edge and chose to build a house there. “Even if we are sad to leave, it’s a new adventure that is about to begin. »
