The owner’s tour | An area that creates memories

Owners open the doors of their exceptional homes to us, offered on the resale market.

If you attended the Montreal Symphony Orchestra’s Bel Canto festival in Knowlton in 2008, you have already set foot on this property. Four years later, André Poirier and his partner Debi Mason took up residence in this idyllic place and improved the space to nourish it with beautiful family stories.

Located a few minutes from the charming village of Knowlton and an hour from the bustling life of Montreal, this sunny estate all day long offers spectacular panoramas of the mountains. The open view, the gigantic land planted with large trees, but also the less hilly areas suitable for creating spaces for children and grandchildren, seduced André Poirier and Debi Mason from their first visit.

“We really fell in love with the location for its incredible landscapes. Also, it made it possible to carry out several projects, such as a basketball court, a pickleball court, a pond stocked with fish, a tree house for children, a beautiful swimming pool, a sugar shack and walking trails,” lists Mr. Poirier.

Over time, all these projects saw the light of day and the couple even converted an old bus into a chalet! None of these installations have harmed the landscape and we feel in communion with nature everywhere on the property, where the owner also enjoys organizing Olympics every summer with his loved ones.

This feeling of well-being also emanates from the interior of the residence, which the couple wanted to be very welcoming.

When we bought it, it was a very closed chalet. We decided to renovate everything and create openings so that it would be inviting, relaxing, in a very warm country style.

“Besides, when you enter through the main door, you see an incredible view of nature through the gallery at the back of the house,” continues André Poirier.

The outdoor leisure activities and the care taken in the interior design greatly attract the couple’s family, who come to get away from it all for the day, the weekend or the holidays in this heavenly place, a sort of private all-inclusive. Indeed, in addition to the welcoming common area, where there is a wood-burning fireplace, as well as four bedrooms and just as many very stylish bathrooms, the residence has a large games room and a veranda where There is a bar and a summer kitchen.

“My daughters say this house creates memories. It is our main residence and it has the advantage of a complete change of scenery, while being close to services. I work from home, but I go to Montreal once or twice a week, which is very good,” says the owner.

Ten years after acquiring this estate, the couple decided to sell it for several reasons. “Debi is American and she now has grandchildren who we visit regularly in the United States, and for my part, I have less energy at my age to maintain this large property. We would also like to travel more often, so we will look for accommodation in a smaller place, but still in Knowlton,” explains Mr. Poirier.

Their beautiful house is therefore ready to welcome new guests who will certainly create beautiful memories in turn.
