The investigation report on the management of Ehpad Orpea was made public on Tuesday, April 5. The 500 pages of documents overwhelm the group, which prioritizes profit over its residents.

On Tuesday April 5, the public authorities published their report on acts of abuse in Ehpad Orpea. He points to several aspects, including the dehydration and malnutrition of certain residents. In particular, it is written that “the weights used by the cooks of Ehpad Orpea are significantly below the references for protein foods”. Isabelle Schwartz is one of the complainants, she believes that her mother suffered from these deprivations. “I could not imagine that this establishment which had this reputation, at these prices, could let people waste away in small rooms without taking care of them”she says.

The report also describes an opaque system where reports incidents are not transmitted in time to the health authorities. Families also feel left out. The survey also reports overcrowding in 25 Orpea establishments. What’s more, 13 to 18 million euros of public funds were saved between 2017 and 2020 when they should have been allocated to residents. Estates General will be held within Orpea, which promises a decentralization of its decisions.
