The Orchester symphonique de Longueuil becomes the Orchester philharmonique du Québec

The Orchester symphonique de Longueuil is changing its name to become the Orchester philharmonique du Québec, a change that aims to reflect the expansion taken in recent years under the baton of its chief soloist and artistic director, Alexandre Da Costa.

The Orchestra thus wishes to expand its symphonic repertoire to include unique, contemporary and creative projects, in addition to deploying on the international scene.

“Since the arrival of Alexandre Da Costa, our productions have been in demand almost everywhere and this artistic vision is reflected here in Quebec, but also internationally, underlined Jean-Marc Léveillé, Director General of the Philharmonic Orchestra. of Quebec. Opting for a more unifying name – one that goes beyond the borders of a regional territory – allows us to build bridges and promote local talent, to shine it even further and even stronger. »

The Quebec Philharmonic Orchestra – 4e largest symphony orchestra in Quebec – has performed in many places in Quebec and abroad in recent years, including in South America in 2022.
