Météo France decides to raising vigilance orange heat wave in the Alpes-Maritimes after nine days of suffocating heat day and night. Since July 18, the mercury has rarely fallen below 25 degrees at night and has put the bodies of the Riviera residents to the test.
“In recent days, hospitals and emergency services have been particularly stressed with an influx of elderly people with deterioration in general condition, hyperthermia and dehydration. This has put the hospitals of Cannes, Grasse and Antibes in tension last week”, explains Michèle Guez, the deputy departmental delegate of the ARS in the Alpes Maritimes. In Nice, this episode of heat wave also increased the number of emergency room admissions : about twenty more people every day. Two patients have also been in intensive care for a week because of the heat.
At present, the department still remains in vigilance yellow heat wave as temperatures remain high. The Communal Social Action Centers (CCAS) remain mobilized to regularly call the patients registered on the registers and remind them of the good reflexes. It is still possible to register.
