the opposition ulcerated by the “manoeuvres” of the government to sabotage the Liot bill

Pro and anti-pension reform go back to the ring for the examination of the Liot bill in committee at the National Assembly. The majority has drawn up a plan to torpedo the text and avoid having to vote on it in the hemicycle on June 8. An attitude that exasperates opposition groups.

“It is unacceptable, an attempted coup, democratic robbery”. The last-minute maneuvers of the government aimed at preventing the examination in the National Assembly of the Liot bill to repeal the postponement of the legal age to 64, annoy the number one of rebellious France, Manuel Bompard.

The majority plans to delete the main article from the Liot text on Wednesday in committee, where the balance of power seems to them more favorable than in the hemicycle, thanks to the help of the LRs. If it succeeds, the Liot group will be forced to reintroduce its measure by an amendment before June 8. A scenario that would authorize the President of the Assembly to brandish the ax of financial admissibility herself, and thus prevent a vote in the hemicycle.

Among the eight Les Républicains deputies on the commission, a pro-reform even today replaces an anti-reform, which irritates the patron saint of ecologists, Cyrielle Chatelain: “They are trying all possible and imaginable tricks to ensure that it is not debated in the Assembly, in the hemicycle. It proves that they are very worried”she quips.

“We change people to be sure that the people who come to sit vote for the right thing.”

If the majority manages to escape the vote in the hemicycle, “there will be consequences“, promises the deputy Liot, Charles de Courson. “What they do not fully measure in my opinion are the political consequences of such behavior, because a motion of no confidence will eventually be passed. I call on the presidential minority and the government to think carefully“, he slips.

For his part, Bertrand Pancher, leader of Liot, sent a letter to Emmanuel Macron to denounce the “manoeuvres” from the presidential camp. “We ask you, in responsibility, to let the deputies vote and to respect the democratic fact”, he writes. So, will Liot end up filing a motion of censure? “We will see it. Each day is enough for its trouble”, replies Charles de Courson. First test therefore Wednesday morning with some 70 deputies of the Social Affairs Committee.
