The Laval Rocket was not able to reach the mark of 10 shots per period once Friday night, but that did not prevent the American League team from snatching a 5 to 2 victory against at the Wolf Pack in Hartford.
Dominated 36-24 in terms of shots on target, the Rocket nevertheless got out of trouble thanks to the brilliance of Jared Davidson who scored a hat trick by scoring his 6th, 7th and 8th goals of the season.
The game was only 51 seconds old when Anton Blidh opened the scoring, before Mitchell Stephens – passed over on waivers three weeks ago – scored his seventh of the season on a power play at the very end of the first commitment.
The rest of the game belonged to Davidson, who began his hat trick with 4:40 remaining in the 2nd period, on a pass from Mitchells, before continuing his work by trapping the Wolves on a power play midway through the third , then completing his exceptional evening with an empty-net goal.
Tobie Bisson was the other scorer for the Rocket, while Brett Berard answered for the Wolf Pack.
In doing so, the Rocket remains well engaged in the race for the playoffs, despite the loss of their captain Gabriel Bourque for a period which could reach four weeks due to a lower body injury.
