“Despite the slow resumption of activities in the cultural sector, it is impossible for the company to ensure all the flexibility desired to begin rehearsals for this major opera”, informs us the management in a press release. This production involves no less than 225 artists, artisans and technicians, both on stage and behind the scenes and in the orchestra pit.

“With a still significant risk of infection, the conditions are therefore unfortunately not considered adequate to present this new major work”, signed by the author Michel Marc Bouchard (Tom at the farm) and composer Julien Bilodeau. The beauty of the world will be presented instead in November 2022, as part of the next season of the Opéra de Montréal.

Remember that the work will plunge the public into the heart of the Second World War, when France was under the occupation of the German army. The story is inspired by the clandestine rescue of works from the Louvre Museum, orchestrated by Jacques Jaujard and Rose Valland.

In the meantime, we can listen to this musical extract, with the piece the air of the doveperformed by Philippe Sly, and captured during the first reading with the Orchester Métropolitain, in April 2021.
