Monday October 2, Gérard Depardieu, indicted for rape, spoke in the columns of Le Figaro. On the 12/13 info set, Me Carine Durrieu, the lawyer for one of the victims, reacts to this open letter.

Charlotte Arnould accuses Gérard Depardieu of having raped her twice in 2018. At the start of 2023, the actress declared that she was going through hell. In the columns of FigaroMonday October 2, his alleged attacker claims that he never “abused of a woman”. Me Carine Durrieuthe actress’s lawyer, indicates: “It’s hard, it’s another hard blow. This is a woman who claims to be a victim of rape and assault sexual who tries to overcome trauma that this generates. […] This open letter aims to reverse the guilt and present Gérard Depardieu as a victim.”

“A remote surveillance video”

“Conducting legal proceedings is very complicated for a rape victim. It’s a real obstacle course. She filed a complaint in 2018. We have been in this process for five years and we have gained nothing. She gains neither career nor morale.”explains the lawyer who specifies that the route is “violent”.

Asked about the procedure, Me Carine Durrieu answers : “When Gérard Depardieu begins his remarks with ‘I declare my truth’, obviously we expect the truth from justice. […] It is extremely rare, in this type of case, that we have an indictment, in this case, we have an indictment. […] This is not a word for word case. We have a surveillance video which shows the facts.” For now, the case is still under investigation.
