The coach of the French Olympic football team gave an exclusive interview to the show Tout Le Sport.
Thierry Henry, coach of the French Olympic team, spoke on Tuesday March 19 about his approach 127 days before the Games. For the Tout Le Sport program, he discussed the weight of the French team jersey, the dialogue with the clubs to free the players, his view on the former winners of the competition, but also the particular case of Kylian Mbappé: “He’s the best (of the world), believes the 1998 world champion. (…) Will he be able to come? It remains the club’s decision.” The Paris Saint-Germain player should first play the Euro (from June 14 to July 14, 2024).
The one who will guide the Bleuets during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games also regrets being dependent on the desire of clubs to release, or not, their players for the Games: “The Olympic Games are not on Fifa dates. (…) It’s a bit like the world turned upside down. (…) We’re going to try to have the best team, that’s the most important thing, and a team that we can prepare.” In the meantime, the French Olympic team is preparing in Clairefontaine to face Ivory Coast and the United States, in friendly matches on March 22 and 26.
