the nursing home, a good solution?

The Bellegarde-en-Marche (Creuse) health center is still empty for the moment, but in two months it should come to life. Doctors from all over France will take turns in this center to restore access to care for the 400 inhabitants of the village and neighboring towns. “We fell into a medical desert. There will be a dynamic that will be recreated with this health center”says Jean-Jacques Bigouret, first deputy mayor of Bellegarde-en-Marche.

2,251 nursing homes in France

In France, there are 2,251 nursing homes. But the sector is still struggling to recruit and the number of professionals does not necessarily follow. This center in Aube, in Auxon, came out of the ground two years ago. But Doctor Matthieu Chardon is the only general practitioner at the center and manages more than 1,300 patients. “There, this room is functional, we have a desk, an examination table, notice to those interested”, says Dr. Matthieu Chardon. Today, more than 6 million French people are struggling to find a general practitioner.
