(Los Angeles) The Nun IIthe latest horror film in the franchise Conjuringtook first place at the North American box office, according to estimates Sunday from Exhibitor Relations.
The feature film, sequel to The Nun (2018), accumulated $32.6 million in revenue for its first weekend in theaters in the United States and Canada, “a very good start” for such a film according to analyst David Gross.
This 9e installment of the horror film franchise Conjuring takes place in a convent in the south of France in the 1950s, where a young nun finds herself having to face a demonic force.
In second place, the action film The Equalizer 3, worn by actor Denzel Washington, collects $12.1 million for its second weekend in theaters. This third part of the series follows the adventures of a former secret agent, this time confronted by the Italian mafia.
Arrives in last position on the podium My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, with 10 million dollars in revenue. The American comedy, which tells the story of a family trip to Greece, was written and directed by Nia Vardalos, the actress who made herself known in the first two opuses.
Indian action film Jawan arrives in 4e with 6.2 million dollars, a big success in the United States for this Hindi-language film. Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, who is directing the film, also plays the lead role.
