The roads are becoming less and less deadly in France. Road Safety published decreasing figures on Thursday, September 14: 591 people died in July and August 2023, or 50 fewer deaths compared to the previous summer.

According to estimates from the National Interministerial Road Safety Observatory, in August, 1,386 people were seriously injured on the roads of France. This figure, still provisional, is down 4% compared to August 2022.

Road Safety would like to draw attention to “the high proportion of people killed on motorized two-wheelers”. These deaths represent nearly 30% of the total recorded this summer. Those killed in “motorized personal travel device”, including those traveling on electric scooters, are also on the rise. Road Safety reminded that new regulatory measures have come into force regarding electric scooters.
