The number of hospitalizations linked to COVID-19 in Quebec falls below the 2000 mark

The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 fell below 2,000 on Tuesday, but authorities reported 17 new deaths.

Health authorities reported a decrease of 38 hospitalizations since the previous day, bringing the total to 1,966, of which 660 patients are being treated specifically for COVID-19.

In intensive care, 50 people with COVID-19 were being treated, but only 25 due to the disease. This figure has remained stable since the last assessment.

In addition, more than 3,600 infected healthcare professionals are absent from work for COVID-related reasons.

Deaths from the disease, however, continue to pile up. With the 17 new deaths reported on Tuesday, a total of 16,940 Quebecers have succumbed to COVID-19.

Of the new deaths, only one occurred in the last 24 hours, 14 two to seven days ago and two more than seven days ago.

Quebec also reports 1,051 additional cases. However, this figure is incomplete, since access to screening centers is restricted to certain priority groups.

Quebecers declared 220 rapid tests on Monday, including 187 positive. The total stands at 303,279 self-reported rapid tests so far, including 254,827 positives.

According to the dashboard of the Ministry of Health, the positivity rate is 9.3%.

As for vaccination, 15,803 doses were administered on Monday, for a total of 21,732,665 vaccines injected into Quebecers.
