For the first time in ten years, the number of doctors in France increased by 0.8%. 1,672 additional practitioners were registered by the order of doctors. What is their profile, where do they want to settle and why?
Laurent Gaudet moved to Mauprévoir (Vienna) three months ago. Since then, consultations have continued. For his first position, he decided to settle in a health center, managed by a rural aid association, of which he is an employee. The main interest? Time devoted to patients, and no longer to administration. “My 15 minutes of consultation are intended for consultation only“, he assures.
He also negotiated his working time: 32 to 35 hours per week. Ideal conditions for him, and comfort for patients, after several months without a doctor.
Professionals are increasingly fleeing working alone. In a health center in Landes, Dr. Léo Nadal, 29, has just set up as a private practice. “I can truly say that we are a team“, he rejoices. A way to get started in the profession which is becoming more attractive every year, particularly in rural areas.
