Live from Kramatorsk, in eastern Ukraine, journalist Agnès Vahramian takes stock of the situation on Thursday, April 28.

On the 64th day of the war in Ukraine, Thursday April 28, the noose is closing in on the Ukrainian army on the eastern front. “In two days, indeed, the Ukrainian forces had to retreat”observes from Kramatorsk, in the east of the country, the reporter for France Télévisions, Agnès Vahramian.

“The Moscow army is advancing, pounding. It’s three, four kilometers a day gained. It attacks the villages, which are easier to conquer”explains the journalist, who notes: “We also saw a lot of reinforcements from the Ukrainian army, especially in men. But men who go to the front in buses, in special vehicles. […] The commanders complained directly to us, saying, ‘We don’t have enough air defense systems, their planes are hurting us a lot’.” The Ukrainian Defense Minister, for his part, recognized the advance of the Russian army and asked his troops to hold their ground.
