Rural environment: the noise of roosters causes conflicts between neighbors
(France 2)
In Brittany, a new cockcrow affair is sowing discord in a village. This time, it’s not a farm, but a private one that keeps chickens and roosters. The neighbors threaten to file a complaint.
A mother dreamed of living in the countryside with chickens. The 13 Hours teams met her in Lanvallay, in Côtes-d’Armor. In 2020, she decided to install a chicken coop with three roosters. The neighbors then complained about the noise. They ask him to reduce the number of poultry. She complies, but the neighbors are not satisfied and plan to take legal action. However, the owner respects the number of poultry authorized by law.
A law to limit recourse
The mayor took up the matter. For him, we must find common ground. He understands that this could cause embarrassment, given that we “is a little beyond the very small family henhouse”. These conflicts are not uncommon in rural areas. The Senate voted on Tuesday March 12 for a law to limit appeals against agricultural operations deemed too noisy.
