What happened at Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza? The investigation continues to understand who was behind the deadly explosion of October 17. As Israel and Hamas continue to blame each other, a New York Times investigation claims that a video used by Israeli forces to absolve itself of responsibility shows a projectile fired from Israel. Conclusions quickly truncated on social networks, while the American daily does not identify any person responsible in its investigation.

For more than a week, all the fact-checkers and online investigation enthusiasts have been trying to find out who is responsible for the explosion near the Al-Ahli Arabi hospital in Gaza on October 17.

The New York Times is not to be outdone with an investigation which focuses on one of the most shared videos surrounding this incident: a video broadcast live by the Qatari news channel Al Jazeera.

Israeli forces used this video three times to justify their version: a Palestinian missile, fired from Gaza towards Israel, which due to a technical problem fell on the hospital. According to Israel, the video shows this Palestinian missile.

However, the New York Times proves in its investigation that the projectile shown by Al Jazeera was fired from Israel, and never flew over Al-Ahli Arabi. It is therefore not the one linked to the deadly explosion.

However, the American daily does not go so far as to accuse Israel, any more than it exonerates Hamas or the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement. The New York Times simply does not comment on responsibility behind the attack. However, many accounts took up this analysis on social networks by truncating it, so as to accuse Israel of having carried out the strike.
