Released Friday October 20 on the PlayStation 5, “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” has already sold more than 2.5 million copies, becoming the fastest-selling video game in the history of the Sony console during the first 24 hours, according to the Japanese group. Developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with PlayStation Studios and Marvel Games, the game was expected to be one of the biggest releases of the year on PS5.
Spider-Man is playable as the original Spider-Man, Peter Parker, as well as as the Hispanic-African-American teenager Miles Morales, who appeared in the comics in 2011. The action takes place in the New York from Marvel Studios and the game is supposed to push the console to its technological limits.
In the 2000s, the box office success of superhero films propelled Spider-Man to the forefront of the series of games developed from 2018 by Insomniac Games for Sony, which bought this studio the next year.
