Gad Elmaleh lends his voice for the fourth time to Gru, the hero of “Despicable Me”, whose new opus is released Wednesday, July 10 in French theaters. A near-guaranteed success for the most profitable animated franchise of all time.

With its not-so-bad villain and the neon yellow Minions who speak Esparanto, Despicable Me has become the most profitable animated franchise of all time. Gad Elmaleh, who voices the hero, Gru, is back for the fourth installment which is about to hit theaters. “It’s thanks to my son that I found my voice”says the comedian, who says he tested several stamps while tucking his son in with a story.

For this fourth episode, Audrey Lamy plays his exuberant wife: “Children take dolls and make them talk, we do a bit of the same thing”confides the actress, delighted with this experience. A success also driven by French animation, because if the saga is American, all the special effects are made in Paris by the Illumination studio. With Alex Lutz in the shoes of the villain, and music by Pharrell Williams, the film appeals to all generations.
