The 13 Hours of March 30 takes you to Holland, the land of windmills for centuries. There are several types, with very different functions. Every year they attract visitors from all over the world like near Amsterdam.
Only a few kilometers from the city center of Amsterdam (Netherlands), the small village of Zaanse Skans is a haven of peace. French people passing through do not regret having made the detour. “(…) When we passed, we were immediately impressed“, says a young woman. However, the weather is not in the game: there is rain and wind. But for Tim Doeves, that’s not a problem. “(…) When the wind blows, we can use the windmill“, he explains. Inside, everything works thanks to the energy of the wind which will cut the wood.
A unique show in the world
Around Tim, a dozen volunteers are responsible for welcoming tourists and playing teachers to explain the workings of the collector’s item. The mill has thus become the main attraction of the village. In the 18th century, there were more than a thousand mills in the region. Whatever the season, the windmills of the Netherlands offer the public a spectacle unique in the world.
