For this 10th and final day of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, Tuesday, November 16, the last nations engaged have battled to obtain a ticket for Qatar or, failing that, a place in the jump-off. In Group G, the Netherlands qualified after their success against Norway.
Eight years later, the Netherlands return to the World Cup
The Oranje will make their comeback in the World Cup. Eight years after their last participation – after being absent from Euro 2016 and the World Cup in Russia in 2018 – the Netherlands will be present in Qatar next winter.
48 hours after seeing the qualification slip away before their eyes against Montenegro in the last ten minutes (2-2), Louis van Gaal’s men, failing to be brilliant, did not falter at home in Rotterdam for the group G final against Norway. In an empty De Kuip stadium due to the resurgence of cases of covid-19 and partial confinement, the teammates of Memphis Depay, holder at the forefront of the attack and scorer (90th, 2-0), held good and avoided the scares of the last weekend. Before the former Lyon, Steven Bergwijn, the Tottenham winger, came to relieve his family by scoring a precious goal (1-0, 84th).

Turkey and Ukraine dams
Behind the Netherlands, it was Turkey which seized the opportunity given by Norway to snatch the barrage ticket. Stefan Kuntz’s players won on the lawn of Montenegro (1-2) thanks to achievements signed by Kerem Aktürkoglu and Orkun Kokcu. They thus join a great host of selections who will have to compete to win their place for the 2022 World Cup.
In Group D, that of France, Ukraine took advantage of the victory of the Blues against Finland (0-2) to pull their place for the dams. The players of Oleksandar Petrakov went to win on the lawn of Bosnia (0-2) and can still claim accessit in Qatar next winter.
Already qualified, Belgium conceded a draw against Wales (1-1), with Kevin de Bruyne once again a scorer. The two selections finish in the first two places of group E.
That concludes the group stage of the European qualifiers!
