In the north of Gironde, the National Rally won in the two previous elections. The vice-president of the RN, Edwige Diaz, wants to confirm her favorite status.
In Coutras, in the north of Gironde, the National Rally won two years ago in this rural constituency. One week before the first round, the outgoing MP leaves confident. At 36, Edwige Diaz is one of the rising figures of the National Rally and is attracting new voters. Coutras has long voted on the left but, at the beginning of June, the RN achieved 46% of the vote. “The left has betrayed its values, its attachment to public service, to school, to secularism”says Edwige Diaz.
In the opposite camp, we still believe in it but we recognize that the RN has fed on despair in this popular territory. “It’s a constituency that has been abandoned with a high rate of poverty”, confides the rebellious candidate. In Blayais, the disappointment of voters is also expressed. The presidential majority candidate, deputy between 2017 and 2022, believes that the far right thrives on false promises. “It’s so easy to be populist”, assures Valérie Hammerer. Lutte Ouvrière also presents a candidate. Four women at the heart of the doubts of the rural world.
