He was so far rather the target of Éric Zemmour. The National Rally has found a new enemy: wokism. A term used by the extreme right and the right to designate the movement against discrimination. RN deputies have officially launched an “Association of parliamentarians against wokism” to denounce and above all to act against “the creeping woke ideology” everywhere in our society such a “poison”according to MP Roger Chudeau and MEP Philippe Olivier who are on the initiative.

These elected officials want to use their presence in the institutions to legislate against what seems to them aberrant with, among other things, meetings reserved for women and trans people who participate in sports competitions. But to start, they want to tackle the perhaps less divisive topics of “inclusive writing” in universities and official records. A ban has already been proposed by Republican MPs and right-wing senators. The RN imagines being able to gather widely on this.

For the moment, the association is almost exclusively made up of elected members of the National Rally, plus the deputies Nicolas Dupont-Aignant and Véronique Besse, both very right-wingers, as well as the two senators who are members of the Zemmourist Reconquest party. We are still far from the transpartisan spirit wanted by the initiators, who still hope to convince some Republicans. The RN is having a hard time blowing up the dikes in the National Assembly. He has not succeeded in passing any bill but only a few amendments since the beginning of the legislature.

Invest in new subjects

The exercise of positioning oneself on certain subjects is relatively new at the RN. Marine Le Pen had rather campaigned on purchasing power in 2022. “We can deal with the end of the month and the end of the world”, replies MP Roger Chudeau. Éric Zemmour was so far on this niche, is the idea to recover his electorate? “There is no electoral aimreplies Roger Chudeau. The next elections are in four years. We are not at all trying to situate ourselves in relation to him, but we are a political force unlike Éric Zemmour. He is a force of influence, we are a structured political force with 88 deputies.” There will therefore be no elections in the short term according to Roger Chudeau. This is discussed with the European elections which take place in a year and Reconquest which is in the process of being structured to present itself there.

The RN will therefore have to flex its muscles for these next elections, most certainly behind Jordan Bardella at the top of the list, the brand new president of the party deemed to be more conservative than Marine Le Pen. When you ask him the question directly: if wearing subjects like antiwokism is the Bardella “brand”? “This is one of the subjects that I want us to invest because I think that the political fight is not only the electoral battle, it is also the cultural battle, he explains.

“There are many subjects on which the National Gathering must open up and on which perhaps we are heard less, such as on health or on ecology which are themes that we wish to take in hand and invest. “

So many subjects on which conferences will be organized with always the same stated objective: to take power.
