In the first round of these legislative elections, Marine Le Pen’s party came third behind the coalition Together! (25.2%), neck and neck with the New People’s Ecological and Social Union (Nupes) (25.6%), but ahead of the right-wing bloc LR-UDI-DVD (13.6%). The RN can now consider forming a group of 20 at 45 deputies in the Assembly, according to the projections in seats.

A few days before the first roundseveral tenors of the RN had explained to target more than a hundred deputies at the end of the second round, on June 19. “We gathered 50% of the votes in more than 150 constituencies and 55% of votes in more than 90 constituencies”underlined Marine Le Pen during a press conference, calling on voters to give her “100 to 150 deputies”.

Even if the objective seems very difficult to achieve, the Rassemblement national has already achieved a big blow: it is sure to form a group in the National Assembly (at least 15 deputies), which was not the case five years ago, with only eight elected to the Palais-Bourbon.

After the progress of nearly 7.5 points achieved by Marine Le Pen in the second round of the presidential election (41.45% against 33.9% in 2017), the RN, which refused any alliance with Eric Zemmour and his party, Reconquest!, continues its march forward in the legislative elections. A new political deal for Marine Le Pen and the main far-right formation, which will be able to weigh more in the national debate.
