This version of Apple’s smartphone exceeded European rules regarding the emission of electromagnetic waves. As a result, it was withdrawn from the market.

Update validated. The National Frequency Agency (ANFR), responsible for controlling the level of radio wave emissions by electronic devices, approved on Friday September 29 the modifications proposed by Apple to lower the power of the iPhone 12, including the marketing had been suspended due to exceeding the thresholds permitted by European regulations.

According to Jean-Noël Barrot, the Minister responsible for Digital Affairs, the Apple brand was to offer a software update which would cause the iPhone 12 to emit fewer DAS waves. “Tests confirm that this software development makes it possible to respect the SAR limit value [4 W/kg]“, announced the ANFR in a press release. It was reduced to 3.94 W/kg, just below the limit value of 4 W/kg.
“It is now up to Apple to push this software update to all iPhone 12 users”, continues the National Frequency Agency, after which the ban on the marketing of this model can be lifted. Note that none problem has not been noted on other versions of Apple’s smartphone, which has just released the iPhone 15 in mid-September.
