the National Assembly divided after the remarks of Gabriel Attal

The Minister of Education wants to “get” radicalized students out of schools and is considering “specialized structures to accommodate them”. An announcement variously appreciated by the oppositions.

Some agree, others speak of announcements of ” communication“. Gabriel Attal declared that he wanted ” to go out“radicalized students in schools. The Minister of National Education says he is in favor of” exclusion measures“.

In the Assembly, the Republicans agree, the left questions and some see it as a new way for the young minister to communicate about his action.

For the right, Gabriel Attal is “right”

The right says it clearly: Gabriel Attal has ” reason“to want to extract radicalized students from schools. Les Républicains MP Annie Genevard explains: ” It is obviously necessary to study each case very carefully to assess this potential danger. But above all, if we take them out of the ordinary environment, we have to find solutions.” She is in favor of the creation of a specialized structure to supervise these young people: ” A structure which involves not only teachers, but also psychologists, lawyers, representatives of public order.

No time to wait, replies the National Rally, notably MP Roger Chudeau.

“Gabriel Attal has a gift for reinventing systems that already exist.”

He believes that radicalized adolescents must be sent to already existing structures: ” There are over 400 relay devices. It is a small group of students supervised by experienced teachers and trained for this purpose, who are removed from their establishment because they behave badly, because they are out of control.

The left opposes any exclusion

On the other hand, the left is rather opposed to the principle of extracting these young people from schools. This is the opinion of the rebellious Rodrigo Arenas. For him, the minister should have other priorities : “Rather than casting blame on these teachers who would be of no use, because that is the message behind each student who would be irrecoverable, it would be better to concentrate on giving public schools the means to do precisely that. confronted with this.”

“It is very surprising that a Minister of National Education explains that school is of no use to its students. It therefore contravenes the entire project of emancipation of children in our country.”

Rodrigo Arenas, LFI deputy for Paris

Just like his colleagues from other camps, the rebellious MP wonders about the reasons for this umpteenth shocking speech by the young Minister of National Education: ” I have the feeling that we are witnessing a sort of little cockfight between Gérald Darmanin and Gabriel Attal in the race for the Élysée. It’s up to the one who takes the most radical measure.” He calls on the government to focus on the fate of students and their teachers.
