The Nancy-Metz Academy trains contract teachers hired for the start of the 2022 school year

Three days before the return of children to classes on September 1. This is exactly the time required for the pre-re-entry training of contract teachers hired by the Nancy-Metz academy. This Monday, some of the 1,300 in Lorraine started these private lessons, directly from the rectorate building in Nancy. Both theoretical and practical training, mainly in order to learn how to manage a class.

Practical cases

For this, the contractors are still on the side of the students, listening to two teachers leading the training. They describe several concrete cases that new colleagues may be confronted with. “What if a student does not remove their cap?” “What if two classmates fight?“So many questions that Brice, like the others, has 4 minutes to answer.

In my head, I’m ready. Now, it takes concrete and I will do it by feeling“, calmly replies the one who will teach bodywork at the professional high school Entre Meurthe and Sanon in Dombasle-sur-Meurthe, a field in which he practiced for 12 years. Especially since this one, before these 12 years, had already taught in the same place. An experience that will be beneficial.

Competent staff

This is typically the type of profile that the academy wishes to highlight, to show how suitable these contract workers are for the job, and therefore reassure parents who will have to entrust their children to them. “The knowledge, they have it and we recruit them after interviews“, explains Jean-Baptiste Ribon, academic inspector. “There, we give them some keys to hold a class, to do their first lesson, etc.“, he continues. In addition to these 3 days this week, contract workers will have ten additional days, spread throughout the year, in order to perfect their training. “The goal is that in the long term, they pass the internal competition, because we need them“, concludes Jean-Baptiste Ribon.
