At the end of the war, very young, she was entrusted with the animation of a club in the center of Paris, rue de Beaujolais: whiskey galore. His vocation starts from there. DJ, boss, wee lady, she learns the trade and very quickly meets the future big names of tomorrow, in particular the young Serge Gainsbourg.
“Chez Régine”: the trademark
In 1956, Régine launched. She opened her first nightclub, simply called “Chez Régine”, rue du Four, in the Latin Quarter. From year to year, all the stars flock there. For Hollywood stars, a must in Paris.
She develops her brand and “Chez Régine” opens all over the world. While her first nightclub was a hit, Régine opened another club in Montparnasse, New Jimmy’s. The club will move to the sound of the yé-yé and the twistat the time “music of young people”, which she had felt coming and knew how to share with the socialites.
Le Palace, Ledoyen: the covers
At the height of her power, Régine had also taken over a series of establishments, with more or less success. In 1992, she bought at a high price the Palace, epicenter of Parisian nightlife. But the case turns out to be a financial hole, in a dark affair mixing real estate crisis, prospectors’ scheming and seizure of drugs. The place will eventually close in 1996. And finally Régine will separate from all its clubs in 2004.
