The Mysteries of Love: Cathy Andrieu criticizes the “purely sexual” scenario, Jean-Luc Azoulay reframes it

Eight years ago, Cathy Andrieu reprized her iconic role as Cathy in The mysteries of love. An essential character in the series, she is present in almost every episode. A great chance for the actress who is however not in phase with the evolution of the scenario. Indeed, for too long, the ex-wife of David Proux has the feeling of being excluded from the intrigues, too busy playing in a trouple with Julie Chevellier (alias Béatrice) and Olivier Valverde (Alban). During an interview for All TVCathy Andrieu expressed her regrets vis-à-vis the evolution of her character.

Since Cathy got back together with Béatrice, I find myself isolated again. Of course I asked for that to change, but Jean-Luc Azoulay does what he wants. We can’t influence it too much…“, she said. And to add: “Personally, I would very much like to get back to normal with José and the children. But Cathy took another path where she lets herself be influenced. Béatrice makes her leave for other desires. I didn’t want this new troupe. I wanted there to be other stories. Why not let Cathy live a real story with Béatrice. To leave in purely sexual stories, personally I did not want it. I think there were other things to say. But afterwards, I don’t have the finality. I don’t know where this will take us“According to her, fans of The Mysteries of Love would also be tired of this trouple story.”JI don’t know if he hears it, but Jean-Luc Azoulay knows...“, she assured.

The actors always have ideas but their role is to play what they are told

Precisely, the director of the sitcom was in turn contacted by All TV. He was thus able to respond to the criticisms of his actress, in particular on the too sexual turn that the series would have taken according to her. “The Mysteries of Love, this is not porn. It’s true that there may be a little too much sex at the moment, but it’s a period, it will necessarily calm down. There are times when you need sex stories, others don’t. And these are never sex stories. These are comedy stories. (…) It’s more modern love, with strange couples, so I try to keep up with the times. It’s not a drastic change. There are always love stories and sex stories because it goes with love, not always, but once in a while.“And concerning the ideas of Cathy Andrieu, Jean-Luc Azoulay brushes them aside…”The actors, they always have ideas, but their role is to play what they are told to play“, he dropped. The producer promises however “new twists, more love” and “a little more suspensein the upcoming 30 season.
