Making a mark is the creed of the MuséoParc Alésia this year! For the ten years of the museum, exceptional events are organized. A new permanent exhibition is also in place. The goal? Bring back visitors who have already come, and attract those who have never tried.
Renew the permanent exhibition
Ten years after its opening, the MuséoParc Alesia seeks to renew. After two years, during which attendance has fallen sharply, the museum is seeking to attract new visitors. The objective: to find the eighty thousand visitors of 2019. For this, the team is betting on a new, more playful permanent exhibition.
On the program, there are comic books or video simulations where visitors are in the place of soldiers. New archaeological pieces have been added, as well as new explanations of the daily life of the Gauls. For Michel Rouger, the director of the museum, it is the happy medium: “I think we have found the right compromise so that young and old can benefit from it”.
New events throughout the season
The real novelty of this season are the festivities planned throughout the year. From March 26 until the end of the season in November, around ten events have been created for attract a new audienceas Michel Rouger explains: “it’s clearly a way of reaching a new public who never imagined that they would come to an archaeological museum”.
It’s a real gamble for the museum, which will diversify, by offering, for example, to fly over the archaeological site of Alésia, but also to organize a birthday cake competition! Other events will also be held at the museum, such as the traditional July 14 fireworks display in the town of Alise-Sainte-Reine.
All these events are also so that visitors can appropriate the places: you can very well spend an afternoon as a family with your children to participate in the Battle of the Arrows, organized during the Spring holidays. This event is also organized by Parc Evasion, a new partner of the MuséoParc.
Keeping the culture of a museum, while making it more accessible, is in short the bet of 2022 of the MuséoParc Alésia. See you on February 15 for the start of the season.
