The town hall of Beauvais, in Oise, offers 1,000 euros to get rid of bedbugs. She wants to prevent the situation from getting out of control, while disinfection interventions have jumped by 65% ​​in 2023.

For almost a year and a half, a retired couple have had bedbugs in their home. They initially managed on their own, without success. “I was making myself sick”, confides the woman. Three cases have already been identified in their residence. To help residents, the town hall, subject to resource conditions, covers 1,000 euros for disinfection, 500 euros for furniture, and three psychotherapy sessions.

Avoid proliferation

Now free of insects following the intervention of a specialized company, the couple will benefit from the help. They estimate their total costs at nearly 1,000 euros. The town hall wants to avoid proliferation. “We are not yet in a situation where there are bedbugs in all homes, far from it. But the few cases that we have been able to identify, it is necessary to react immediately, so that we can take action”comments the mayor (UDI) of Beauvais, Franck Pia.
