A team from France Télévisions met Emmanuel Marcant, the man who saved 14 people from the flames during the terrible bus accident which occurred on April 12, in Egypt. Testimony.
Eyes ringed with bruises, Emmanuel Marcant and his partner Stephanie Chevallier are barely recovering from the bus accident from which they came out alive. “If he hadn’t been there, we would all be dead”, she says. On April 12, the couple was vacationing in Egypt, along with three other family members. Early in the morning, the bus they were taking to go on an excursion hit another vehicle. “I saw the fire starting in the driver’s legs. So I shouted: ‘You have to get out of the bus, everyone is going to burn'”says Emmanuel Marcant.
The collision having injured several passengers, some could not move. Emmanuel Marcant then forced the door, and saved more than a dozen tourists. He also rescued his companion, who was unconscious and trapped under a seat. After sheltering 14 people, Emmanuel Marcant tried to rescue a couple at the front of the bus. “I couldn’t pick them up… And that’s my regret, actually. My regret today is that I left people on the bus”he concludes, very moved.
