Paris said goodbye to the Olympics in song, with this American version of a French classic. It would be four years before we could once again feel the rhythm of the Olympic events.

Her name had been circulating before the opening ceremony. The singer Yseult finally participated in the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics, Sunday August 11, by performing My Way after the extinction of the Olympic flame at the Stade de France. Dressed in black, the singer delivered a touching and magnificent interpretation of this cult song.

The standard popularized by crooner Frank Sinatra is Paul Anka’s adaptation of the French classic As per usualperformed by Claude François. The song is a “illustrious example of the link which unites France and the United States and of the reciprocal influence between the two cultures”argue the organizers, while the Olympic Games will take place in Los Angeles in 2028. This performance by Yseult concluded 17 days of trials, emotions and medals, with these few final words: “Here we did it this way.”

Even though she was named female revelation at the Victoires de la Musique in 2021, Yseult’s name is perhaps less known to the general public than that of other artists participating in the ceremony. However, the 29-year-old singer has just experienced international success with her title Alibiwhich mixes French, English, Spanish and Portuguese. She took advantage of this collaboration with the Iranian Sevdaliza and the Brazilian drag queen Pabllo Vittar to beat Aya Nakamura on the Spotify platform.
