the movement relatively followed in Occitania

They are asking for a salary increase, improved working conditions. The intersyndicale, which brings together the CGT, FO, the FSU, Solidaires, as well as youth organizations such as the UNEF or the UNL, are calling for a vast day of strike, everywhere in France, this Thursday, January 27.

If the movement will undoubtedly be followed in the departments of the former Midi-Pyrenees region, it will be in lesser proportions than during the last gatherings.

On rails

It is the CGT and Sud-Rail federations which have filed a strike notice. This runs from Wednesday January 26 at 7 p.m. until Friday morning at 8 a.m. In our region, traffic will be severely disrupted, indicates the SNCF.

The Lio trains will be the only ones concerned, that is to say the TER. Nearly 6 out of 10 regional trains will run tomorrow but beware, this figure includes journeys that will be provided by bus, by substitution.

The SNCF encourages travelers on regional lines to inform themselves, since the company does not have their contact. The information can be found either on the SNCF applications or on the site where the timetables have been updated. A free telephone line also gives you access to information, by dialing 0800 31 31 31.

In schools

Contacted by France Bleu Occitanie, all the unions in the departments of the former Midi-Pyrénées assure us: the movement will be much less followed than on January 13. But they could concern more people: since the demands relate to salaries, school life staff as well as those accompanying disabled children could also be concerned. Canteens might not open their doors, for example.

But if this call to strike will be less followed, it will be all the same since the teachers also have wage demands, and for a long time. Indeed, their index point has remained frozen for ten years, despite inflation.

According to the departments, between 15 and 30% of kindergarten and primary school teachers could strike. In secondary school, it is more complicated to estimate since teachers in colleges and high schools do not make a prior declaration. They could therefore decide at the last moment, but some have already expressed their desire to strike, which allows us to give some figures.

  • In Haute-Garonne, the SNUIPP of the department estimates between 20 to 30% the number of strikers in schools. Wednesday evening, the union mentioned that about fifty closed classes.
  • In Ariège, the movement should be followed twice less than during the mobilization of January 13. But all the same, a third of the teachers of the first degree could not make the class, this Thursday.
  • In the Tarn, mobilization in secondary education remains difficult to estimate. But 25 to 30% of teachers in primary schools and kindergartens are expected to miss the call.
  • In the Batch, according to the UNSA, the movement will be less followed in the primary than in the secondary, where the rate of strikers is around 15%. A school will be closed in Cahors.
  • In the Gers, Wednesday evening the SNUIPP announced about fifteen closed schools. In Gers colleges and high schools, between 30 to 40% strikers are expected this Thursday, January 27.
  • In Aveyron, the movement should be less followed since 15 to 20% of strikers are expected.
  • In the Tarn-et-Garonne, no figure could be advanced on Wednesday evening. Teachers, always “exasperated” according to the SNES FSU, could decide “at the last moment”.

But in the opinion of the unions questioned, if the teachers strike less than on January 13, their “exasperation” is still high, according to the UNSA, and they support, in the majority, these higher wage demands. But to strike a second time in less than a fortnight would represent for them two days less pay at the end of the month. And this is not negligible, adds an UNSA representative, “when there are precisely problems of purchasing power”.
