The motorist who overturned a firefighter in full intervention in the streets of Bordeaux on the night of Friday March 31 to Saturday April 1 is sentenced to one year in prison, including six months suspended in immediate appearance, reports Tuesday April 4 France Gironde blue.

The driver will follow the six months in prison from his home under electronic surveillance, with an electronic bracelet. The Bordeaux court also canceled his driving license and ordered him to pay 2,600 euros to the victim. The public prosecutor had requested fifteen months in prison, nine months of which were suspended.

The firefighter was slightly injured in the ankle

The driver hit the firefighter in response to a garbage fire on the night of Friday March 31 to Saturday April 1, before fleeing. The firefighter had asked him to wait before he could drive. The motorist refused to wait and triggered “suddenly a step forward, throwing our colleague on the side of the road”, the firefighters wrote on Facebook. The latter shocked, was slightly injured in the ankle.

A complaint has been filed, according to the firefighters. A man finally presented himself to the Bordeaux police station on Sunday morning. He was taken into custody on Sunday afternoon. The prefect of Gironde, Etienne Guyot, had “condemned this intolerable act”. For his part, the president of the department, Jean-Luc Gleyze, also supported the injured lieutenant.
