“The most vulnerable people will be the most impacted” by the dereimbursement of dental costs by Social Security, with “a risk of renunciation of care”believes Féreuze Aziza, health insurance project manager at France assos santé.

She reacts, on franceinfo, Friday, June 16, to the announcement of the Social Security Department of the reduction in dental care coverage from 70% to 60% from October 1st. The difference, which represents 500 million euros per year, will have to be compensated by complementary health insurance.

The problem, notes Féreuze Aziza, is that “4% of the general population has no complementary health insurance”. For the poorest, “the rate is rather around 11 to 12%”she says. “We are quite worried when we see that there is a transfer of national solidarity to the private sector”, explains the project manager. “We are pushing towards inequalities.”

France assos santé fears that the drop in health insurance coverage will push the most precarious people to do without dental care. “It is the people furthest away who will consume less”; including dental prevention sessions, provides Féreuze Aziza.
