This is the 25th summer that he will be presenting the 1 p.m. news on TF1. Jacques Legros, who signed his CDD with the first channel last February, is continuing his work as Marie-Sophie Lacarrau’s joker. He already replaced her for several months earlier this year when she suffered from an eye infection. From now on, he resumes a more usual role, for the summer holidays.
“Summer is the worst time”
To our colleagues from TV Mag, Jacques Legros ensures that he will not be bored, faithful to the post. He explains in fact: “like every year, I go with my little swimsuit to the newspaper and finally, quickly put on the combat gear“. And for good reason, he says: “It is a constant. I always think that summer is going to be cool, like a moment of grace in a year that’s a bit heavy in news, and each time I screw up…“
The journalist speaks from experience when he states that “Summer is the worst time”. As proof, he says, “We have had terrible fires for more than ten days, a truly exceptional heat wave. We still reached 42 degrees in Paris, it’s not a gift!

So he’s ready for the challenge, “still”. And it will be great, as Jacques Legros foresees: “in terms of climate, events, personalities who disappear… Something is constantly happening, vacation time is no longer a parenthesis. But when the news calms down, we return to lighter subjects, in the theme holidays, and fortunately… After months spent between the Covid, politics or conflicts, we need to escape“.
“We like to travel“
He will also try to adopt a tone of circumstance, as he does at Christmas. If his JT speaks of course of the news, he also adds “a few small lighter touches”. And in particular travels… Jacques Legros indeed reveals: “We like to travel and take viewers to places they don’t know. In particular through the theme “must-see vacations”, a set of ten-minute topics. We were in Portugal last week, between Porto and Nazaré. This week, we are in the Luberon, one of the favorite destinations of the French“. The swimsuit is never far away.
