The most anticipated electric models

While some manufacturers may be revising their electrification plans these days, several highly anticipated models will soon be unveiled or marketed. Here are a few that suggest a flourishing electric future.




Chevrolet Bolt EV

General Motors has stopped production of the first-generation Chevrolet Bolt at the end of 2023.

The second generation of the Chevrolet Bolt is set to officially return next year. Nothing is known yet about the formula for the new vintage of this model that has proven essential for the democratization of electric vehicles. Better range and greater charging power will certainly be among the highlights of this return, since the Bolt will receive a latest-generation Ultium lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery.

Chevrolet Corvette EV

The Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, the first hybrid version in the history of the model, takes a step towards the electrification of the American sports car.

It’s been more than two years since General Motors (GM) announced its intention to offer an electric version of the Corvette, an announcement that caused a stir. Little information has leaked since then. The iconic American sports car naturally associated with the cavernous sound of V8 engines could nevertheless make its first outing in electric livery this year with a view to marketing next year, according to several American media outlets. This electric Corvette should benefit from all-wheel drive to tighten its stability and allow for acceleration times that are sure to be mind-blowing.

Hyundai Midsize SUV

The Ioniq Seven design study, presented in 2021, gives a taste of what this new electric midsize SUV could look like.

Hyundai confirmed a few weeks ago that it will present an all-new electric SUV with three rows of seats by the end of the year. This newcomer would logically be built on the same E-GMP platform as the Kia EV9 and could probably also use the same mechanical configurations with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive capable of traveling 370 and 451 km respectively. On the aesthetic side, the Ioniq Seven style study unveiled in 2021 gives an indication of the direction its design could take.

Ferrari model

Ferrari is also about to enter the electric arena, despite the not-so-distant reluctance of its top management. The prancing horse brand will unveil this new model towards the end of 2025 and has warned that the emotional aspect will be preserved despite the absence of thermal mechanics. According to Reuters, the price of this creation would exceed $700,000 and it should be assembled in a brand new factory built in Ferrari’s capital, Maranello.

Jaguar Sedan

The Jaguar range is now reduced to a single model, the F-Pace. Behind the scenes, however, the English manufacturer is working to electrify its range, a plan supported by 15 billion pounds (27 billion CAD). The first model to be born will be an all-electric grand touring sedan capable, according to Jaguar, of traveling 700 km. Its unveiling is planned this year for a market launch in 2025.

Dodge Charger Daytona

A 180-degree turn… or almost for the Dodge Charger, which will be offered at the end of the year in an all-electric version in addition to turbocharged six-cylinder variants. Named Charger Daytona, the electric model will be based on the Stellantis STLA electric platform and will be equipped with two standard electric motors: 496 hp for the R/T version and 670 hp for the Scat Pack variant for a respective range of 510 km and 418 km using a 100.5 kWh battery.

Polestar 5

Scheduled for 2025, the unveiling of the Polestar 5 will allow the Swedish electric vehicle brand to expand its footprint by targeting none other than the future electric Porsche Panamera. This new sports sedan promises 884 hp and an 800 V architecture to reduce charging times on fast terminals and quickly power the two electric motors. Its chassis made of bonded aluminum promises to lower its weight while ensuring the necessary rigidity.

Kia EV3

The Kia EV3 shares family resemblances with the EV9 midsize SUV.

Targeting the Volvo EX30 head-on, the Kia EV3 will be the replacement for the Niro electric subcompact SUV based on the E-GMP modular electric platform. The standard version will be offered in a front-wheel drive version and an all-wheel drive version will complete the technical sheet with its two engines. At the global launch, Kia said it wanted to offer 58.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh batteries. However, we will have to wait to find out how the Canadian version will be equipped as well as the marketing schedule, which could begin next year.

Rivian R2

The design of the Rivian R2 is largely inspired by that of the R1S currently on the market.

The young American brand Rivian is aiming for 2026 to launch its very first compact model, the R2. This SUV will be comparable in length to a Honda CR-V, but will have a wheelbase that is 23 cm longer for roominess. It will make the range of this promising manufacturer more accessible with a starting price of $66,000. Rear-engine, dual-engine and triple-engine configurations are promised for various performance levels. Rivian estimates its range at over 480 km, for now.
