The Saint-Jean-de-Braye mosque, near Orléans in Loiret, was the target of a letter of insults and threats, France Bleu Orléans reported on Monday March 18.

The anonymous letter, addressed to the imam of the mosque, was discovered on Saturday by the president of the Abraysian Cult and Cultural Association (Acca), Abderrahmane Slassi. The mail is soaked in pork fat, with a Star of David and an inscription at the bottom of the letter, “Israel will screw you”.

“There were insults, threats. Words of great violence.”

“I don’t know who could have written this letter. We behave very well with our Jewish friends.” He questions the meaning of these threats. The Abraysian mosque has been installed in the middle of homes since 2010, in peaceful coexistence, without incident.

Threats made in the middle of Ramadan

The Saint-Jean-de-Braye mosque filed a complaint, the faithful being worried about the sending of this letter in the middle of Ramadan. The religious building can accommodate up to 400 Muslims. The security of the mosque has been reinforced by the president of the association. The Orléans police, in possession of the letter, are seeking to identify the author(s) of the letter.
