The Montreal Canadiens humiliated by the Panthers

The Montreal Canadiens will quickly want to move on after being beaten 9-5 by the Florida Panthers on Thursday at FLA Live Arena.

Martin St-Louis’ men, who had just ended a seven-game losing streak, trailed 7-3 after just 20 minutes of play.

Samuel Montembeault was even kicked out of the game after just over six minutes, but was sent back into the fray in the second half after watching the hosts manhandle Jake Allen.

Mike Matheson had yet opened the scoring after only 16 seconds of play against the team that drafted him. He later made an accomplice of Rem Pitlick in massive attack.

Anthony Richard, Michael Pezzetta and Rafaël Harvey-Pinard also benefited from the largesse of Sergei Bobrovsky in the defeat.

Almost every Panthers player got a point in this offensive festival. Matthew Tkachuk (one goal, three assists), Carter Verhaeghe (two goals) and Aaron Ekblad (two goals) had a particularly good time.

Colin White, Sam Reinhart, Ryan Lomberg and Gustav Forsling were the other scorers for Team Florida.

Elsewhere, captain Nick Suzuki was ejected from the game with 2 min 51 s. to do because of a cross-check he slapped in the face of Anton Lundell.

The CH will visit the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.
