The Montreal Canadiens grant a contract extension to Chris Wideman

The Montreal Canadiens have granted veteran defenseman Chris Wideman a two-year contract extension.

Wideman, 32, had four goals and 27 points in 64 games last season after signing a one-year contract on July 28, 2021.

In his career, the defenseman has 20 goals and 52 assists in 245 NHL games with the Ottawa Senators, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers and the Canadiens.

The Senators claimed Wideman in the fourth round — 100th overall — in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
