At the opening of the Liberal Congress in Quebec City, Montpetit’s unease is indeed palpable. His father, Marc Montpetit, who is president of the Liberal association of Soulanges, is present and intends to express his way of thinking to the militants. Following allegations of harassment among PLQ employees at the National Assembly, Chief Dominique Anglade kicked Marie Montpetit out of the caucus permanently.
When he arrived at the convention on Saturday, Marc Montpetit reiterated that his daughter was treated unfairly. That this type of problem can be solved differently at the PLQ.
“We condemn, we sanction, we move on,” he denounced. According to him, this type of problem is resolved differently at the PLQ.
“I have seen crises in the Liberal Party for 40 years, but you have never heard of it. It has always been settled inside. And that’s how it’s done with the Liberals, ”pleaded the one who will resign from all his functions during the weekend. He believes that the chef Dominique Anglade had a “totalitarian” attitude in this matter.
Desired return
For her part, Liberal MP Christine St-Pierre intends to have a good discussion with the longtime activist.
“I’m going to tell her that we understand her sadness, that Marie is a girl that I find very intelligent […]. She is able to get out of this storm and she has a future ahead of her. She is still young ”, she mentioned, adding that she wishes her return“ if there is a path that is made ”.
Single decision
The liberal leader, Dominique Anglade, has not closed the door to a return of Mme Montpetit, believing that she believes in rehabilitation, but that she “cannot predict the future”.
However, she says, with the information she has in her possession today and regarding Mr.me Montpetit, “the only necessary decision” was to exclude the elected.
As for the presence of Marc Montpetit at the congress this weekend, Mr.me Anglade stressed that she understood the sadness that pervades the loyal militant.
“I will be pleased to meet Mr. Montpetit. I understand Mr. Montpetit. I am a mother of three children and I think the reaction we have seen is the reaction of a father to his daughter, ”she said.
Marc Montpetit will keep his membership card in order to be able to vote.
