New incident on the Ligue 1 pitches. The match of the 8th day between Montpellier and Clermont, Sunday October 8, was interrupted a few minutes from the end, because of a firecracker thrown in the direction of Auvergne goalkeeper Mory Diaw (90th +1). The fireworks exploded very close to the goalkeeper, who remained on the ground in his penalty area, before being evacuated on a stretcher a few minutes later.

Meanwhile, Mory Diaw’s teammate, Neto Borges, was sent off by the referee, Florent Batta, for having given the finger to the stand from which the firecracker was thrown. In this stormy context, the Clermontois decided to return to the locker room, before the MHSC players imitated them. The latter, however, left to validate a convincing victory (4-2 after the doubles of Mousa Al-Tamari and Téji Savanier).

A crisis unit has been set up. A little less than an hour after the events, the security representative at the Mosson stadium announced that the meeting was definitively interrupted. “The doctor who examined the Clermont goalkeeper found that he was not able to resume the match. As a result, the match was definitively interrupted”the match referee explained to the press.
