On the occasion of the 39th European Heritage Days next September, France 3 announces the return of its program “The favorite monument of the French” with Stéphane Bern. Who will be the big winner? The competition promises to be tough again this year with a regional pre-selection to reach the grand final. To represent New Aquitaine, three sites have been selected: the monolithic church of Saint Emilion in Gironde, the Château des Milandes in Castelnaud la Chapelle in Dordogne and the transporter bridge in Rochefort and Echillais in Charente Maritime.

To decide between each of the candidates to represent New Aquitaine, it’s up to you to vote until May 27 on the show’s website. In one click, you support your favorite monument. The advantages of the monolithic church of Saint Emilion
The monolithic church of Saint Emilion has many assets to succeed Place Stanislas de Nancy, elected favorite monument of the French during the previous season in 2021. Dug out at the beginning of the 12th century, the monolithic church is an underground religious building in a single block of impressive dimensions: 38 meters long and 12 meters high. This unusual design has been surprising for centuries. Three openings in the facade, a Gothic portal… and buried secrets! What give all the keys (and chances) to win the competition and win the title of “favorite monument of the French”.
