A pragmatic victory without forcing. The Monegasques easily won (3-0) on the lawn of Reims, Sunday, September 18, during the eighth day of Ligue 1. Three days after their defeat (0-1) against Ferencvaros in the Europa League, the players of Philippe Clément ensured a wide but lackluster victory. Favorites, they were able to take advantage of the indiscipline of the Rémois, reduced to ten from the 22nd minute after the severe expulsion of Bradley Locko, whose foot hit Breel Embolo on a clearance.

Ineffective against the nets since the start of the championship, especially in the game, the Monegasques returned to realism at Auguste-Delaune: first with the diving header of Alexandre Golovine (48th), then a strike by Takumi Minamino (87th), before Wissam Ben Yedder completed the princely success (90th).

The Rémois, for their part, can harbor regrets. By losing Bradley Locko in the 22nd minute, Oscar Garcia’s players had to play outnumbered… for the fifth time in eight games this season. In a tense match, broken by faults, the Champenois held out for a long time. Holder for the first time of the season, Yehvann Diouf has several times saved his teammates.

The break will have been fatal to the Rémois, picked cold by Aleksandr Golovine. If Reims was close to equalizing (goal disallowed for offside in the 60th), the dikes ended up giving up at the very end of the match. With this new defeat, the Champagne club plunges a little more towards the red zone.
