Exit Le Castellet, welcome back to Monaco. The International Automobile Federation (FIA) formalized, Tuesday, September 20, the presence of the Monegasque Grand Prix on the calendar for the 2023 season. The race disputed in the streets of Monte-Carlo was for a time threatened, the organizer of the Formula 1 wishing to renew certain meetings, jeopardizing older tracks that are less suited to the discipline today. As announced earlier this year, the French Grand Prix will not take place next season, unlike the Belgian Grand Prix, at Spa-Francorchamps.

The 2023 Monaco Grand Prix will be contested on April 28, at the heart of what is expected to be the busiest season in history with 24 races on the programme. The Las Vegas Grand Prix makes its appearance, 41 years after having disappeared from the calendar of the discipline, and could have a crucial place in the fight for the title of world champion since it will be the penultimate of the opus 2023. Another curiosity in the City of Vice, the race will exceptionally take place on a Saturday evening (10:00 p.m., or 7:00 a.m. French time on Sunday morning).

The United States will be the most visited country, with this third meeting, in addition to the Miami Grand Prix, inaugurated in 2021, and the Grand Prix of the Americas, in Austin. In addition to this return to Las Vegas, F1 will also find China and the Shanghai circuit, absent for the past three seasons due to Covid-19, and Qatar, which had passed its turn in 2022 due to the organization of the Football World Cup this year. “In making the F1 calendar for 2023, the members of the World Council also took into account the date of the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 10 and 11, 2023, editor’s note)” adds the FIA, unlike this season, where the Azerbaijan Grand Prix had duplicated the Sarthe endurance race.
